Before You Begin
Obtain your authentication information from Avalara AvaTax. You use your Avalara AvaTax login username and password when creating the subscription, and you need your Avalara AvaTax company identifier.
Sign in to your Avalara AvaTax account and locate your Company ID.
Save this ID — you enter it as the API Client Id when setting up the subscription.
Installation Instructions for Integration Setup
Go to Subscriptions Management > Subscriptions and click Search Certified Integration Marketplace and Subscribe.
Select the Avalara Exemption Certificate Management integration and click its tile.
On the Subscription Detail page, click Subscribe.
Enter a Name for the subscription and select a Version. Use any relevant, unique subscription name within your company.
Format: [Product Name] - [Environment/Purpose]
Example: Avalara AvaTax - Production
Select Create Default Mappings (recommended). If you want to build all mappings from scratch yourself, leave this box unchecked.
Enter the API Client Id you saved in the Before You Begin step.
Enter the API User and API Password — the credentials you use to sign in to Avalara AvaTax.
Enter the API Url for your Avalara AvaTax environment:
Test/Sandbox: https://sandbox-rest.avatax.com
Production: https://rest.avatax.com
Enter the API Throttle Limit, which controls how many requests can run in the throttle window.
Initial Setup: 5
Ongoing Operations: 500
High Volume: 500
Enter the API Throttle Seconds, the time window over which the throttle limit is measured.
Default: 60 seconds
Enter the number of Concurrent Connections, the maximum simultaneous connections.
Default: 5
Range: up to 10
Enter the number of Concurrent Batch Executions, the maximum simultaneous batch executions.
Default: 5
Range: up to 10
Click Apply to save the settings.
Authentication Configuration
The integration authenticates to Avalara AvaTax using basic authentication with the credentials entered above:
API User: your Avalara AvaTax API username.
API Password: your Avalara AvaTax API password.
API Client Id: your Avalara AvaTax company identifier.
API Url: the Avalara AvaTax environment address (sandbox or production).
iPaaS.com sends the API User and API Password with each request to the configured API Url; there is no separate token step.
Post-Installation Verification
After completing the installation, verify the integration:
Data Sync Test
Manually sync a company or customer from iPaaS.com to Avalara AvaTax and confirm the record is created in Avalara AvaTax.
Manually sync a customer's certificate details from Avalara AvaTax back to iPaaS.com and confirm the customer is updated.
Functionality Test
Run an end-to-end transfer and confirm field mappings apply as expected.
Review the integration logs under Dashboard / Integration Monitoring.
