Introduction to QuickBooks Online

The QuickBooks Online (QBO) integration with iPaaS.com connects Intuit’s cloud accounting software to the systems where you sell. Use it as a POS integration for QuickBooks Online, an ecommerce integration, or both. Orders post to QuickBooks as sales receipts when they’re paid, or as invoices when they’re sold on terms, with line items, tax, shipping, discounts, addresses, and payments included. Customers, items, and payment methods sync in both directions.

Updates come back from QuickBooks by polling: new and changed customers and items, quantity on hand for Inventory items, payment methods, and each invoice’s status, balance, paid date, and applied payments. Your POS and online store always know what’s been paid.

API Version Support

The integration uses the QuickBooks Online Accounting API (v3) with minor version 75 by default, and signs in with OAuth 2.0 through iPaaS.com's own Intuit app, one app for every subscriber, whose keys iPaaS.com keeps on the integration: subscribers never see or enter them. The API host and the minor version are set in the subscription's settings. See QuickBooks Online Connections and Settings and QuickBooks Online API Endpoints for details.

It works with US QuickBooks Online companies. Quantities on hand need QuickBooks inventory tracking, which Intuit includes in the Plus and Advanced editions and offers as an add-on for Simple Start and Essentials (Intuit: Set up and track your inventory).

Data Flows

The table shows the data the integration moves between iPaaS.com and QuickBooks Online, and in which direction: ← TO iPaaS.com, → FROM iPaaS.com, ←→ both.

Allow Initialization? says whether the data can be bulk-loaded when a subscription first connects. Whether a flow is turned on is set per subscription during implementation.

Transactions FROM iPaaS.com become sales receipts or invoices; TO iPaaS.com, invoices only. The first poll of each kind of record brings in what changed in the last Initial Poll Days days (7 by default). Records are matched before they are created, and sales receipts and invoices edited in QuickBooks are never overwritten.

Versions and Release Notes

The integration follows its own version numbers. The current version is 1.0.0.
