How to Connect
Prerequisites
Before setting up the AvaTax integration in iPaaS.com, ensure you have the following:
API URL:
For the sandbox environment: https://sandbox-rest.avatax.com/api
For the production environment: https://rest.avatax.com/api
API User & API Password:
Your Avalara website login credentials for the user performing the transfers.
API Client ID:
Your Avalara company ID.
If unknown, find it in the URL of the Avalara portal: Navigate to Settings > Company Details or Settings > Manage Companies > Details.
Configure Subscription Settings
Navigate to the AvaTax subscription settings in iPaaS.com and provide the following details:
Field | Description | Required | Example |
Name | A unique name to identify the AvaTax subscription. | Yes | AvaTax_Integration |
Versions | API version to use for the integration. | Yes | v1.0 |
API Client ID | Avalara company ID. | Yes | 8004482 |
API Password | Password for the Avalara website account used for authentication. | Yes | Your API Password |
API User | Username for the Avalara website account used for authentication. | Yes | Your API User |
API URL | Base URL for Avalara instance (sandbox or production). | Yes |
Authentication Methods
AvaTax authentication is simplified through direct input of API credentials into the subscription settings. No additional OAuth or setup steps are required. Simply provide the API URL, API Client ID, API User, and API Password in the subscription settings to establish a secure connection.
Initialization Support
Currently, initialization is not supported for AvaTax in iPaaS.com. All data synchronization and mappings must be configured manually during the integration process.
Throttling
Throttling ensures that AvaTax's API isn’t overwhelmed by excessive API calls, preserving system performance during heavy data transfers.
While the throttling fields are required, the values are pre-populated by the integration settings. For more details, refer to Subscription Configuration – Edit.
