Images

What the Image data type is in iPaaS.com, the fields it holds, and how images attach to products, variants, kits, and categories.

An Image in iPaaS.com is a media record - typically product imagery - that can be attached to the catalog records it appears on. Images let you sync product photos from a PIM or e-commerce platform alongside the rest of your catalog data.

What an Image Holds

An image record carries the image URL (required) plus descriptive and SEO fields: name, alt text, caption, display position, and meta title/description. It also carries a list of the records it's assigned to.

How Images Attach to Records

An image is stored once and can be assigned to one or more catalog records - the same image can appear on several products or variants without being duplicated. iPaaS.com supports assigning images to:

  • Products

  • Product Variants

  • Kits and Variant Kits

  • Product Categories

NOTE: The record an image is assigned to must already exist before the assignment can resolve. In a typical catalog sync, products and variants are created first, then images are written and attached to them.

Common Use Case

Syncing product photos from a source catalog: An external system, such as a PIM has an image saved to it. iPaaS.com creates the image record with the image URL and any applicable metadata, then attaches it to the matching product or variant so the imagery travels with the catalog into the destination system.
