Ensuring the right product data is shown on the right sales channels

iPaaS.com Product Catalog Terminology

This is how iPaaS.com and this documentation define these items, but we understand that they might be defined differently in systems we integrate with.

  • Kit: When you sell 2 or more different products for one price. iPaaS.com defines these as Bill of Materials, Basic or Add-on.

    • Bundle: When you sell a package of 2 or more of the same item for one price. Note: This is not supported natively in iPaaS.com, but there are ways to accommodate for it.

  • Related Products: Products on an e-commerce platform that are shown on the product page or in checkout as related to the product in order to encourage cross-selling and upselling.

  • Type Options

    • Physical: A product that is shipped to you.

    • Virtual: A product that is delivered digitally.

    • Others have been added for integration-specific needs.

  • Tracking Method Options

    • Product: Track all inventory of a product regardless of variant. Track all t-shirts as one inventory.

    • Variant: Track inventory of a product at the variant level. Track small green t-shirts separate from large green t-shirts, separate from large red t-shirts, etc.

Product Catalog Record and Collections - Layout

  1. Core Product Catalog Record: (Partially shown, details below)

  2. Product Catalog Categories: Can contain one or many categories created in that data type.

  3. Product Catalog Units: How you sell this product.

  4. Alternate IDs: A secondary ID (i.e. a barcode, older model number, etc.) crested in that data type.

  5. Inventory: How much of the product is on hand.

  6. Kit: How the product is sold if part of a kit.

  7. Related Products: Products that are related to this product.

  8. Custom Fields: Add values for custom fields that have already been defined under the custom fields data model.

  9. External IDs: The external ID(s) of this record.

Product Catalog - Add/Edit

  1. Name*: Product Name.

  2. Description: Product description.

  3. SKU*: Product SKU.

  4. Barcode: Product barcode.

  5. MSRP: Product MSRP.

  6. Default Price*: Product default price.

  7. Tax Class: The tax class associated with the product

  8. Sale Price: The price the merchant is selling it for.

  9. Tracking Method: Is this product tracked at the product level or variant level.

  10. Type: Is this product physical or virtual.

11. Status: Is this product preorder, active, disabled, or discontinued.

12. Unit: The way the product is sold (i.e. individually, by the case, by the palette, etc.)

13. In Stock Threshold: The inventory level when this product start to show out of stock.

14. Width: Product width (number only).

15. Height: Product height (number only).

16. Depth: Product depth (number only).

17. Weight: Product weight (number only).

18. Allow Discounts: If discounts are able to be applied to this product.

19. Allow Backorders: If backorders are allowed for this product.

Category Collection - Edit/Add

  1. Add Category*: Use the dropdown to select the category to be added.

Product Units Collection - Add/Edit

  1. Name*: The name given to this unit value.

  2. Conversion: How many individual items are in this unit.

  3. Default Price: The unit default price.

  4. MSRP: Unit MSRP.

  5. Sale Price: The price the merchant is selling it for.

  6. Custom Fields: Not pictured - looks and functions like other custom fields.

  7. External IDs: Not pictured - looks and functions like other external IDs fields.

Alternate ID Collection - Add/Edit

  1. Type*: Defined by Alternate ID data model records.

  2. SKU: The SKU for this alternate ID.

  3. Unit: The unit(s) in this alternate ID.

  4. Alternate ID*: The alternate ID.

  5. Description: A description of this ID.

Options Collection - Add/Edit

NOTE: This is only available on a variant product.

This collection (and the values collection of it) defines the categories and options for the variants for this product.

  1. Name*: Name of the variant.

  2. Values: Current values.

  3. Add value modal:

    1. Type*: Name of the option.

    2. Description: Description of the option.

    3. Order*: The order the values appear in.

Variant Collection - Add/Edit

NOTE: This is only available on a variant product.

Variants define how variants are put together for a product (i.e. a green large shirt, a red small shirt, etc). Variants have many similarities with core products, including many child records. If the child record is not noted here then functions like it would on a core product record.

  1. SKU*: Product SKU.

  2. Barcode: Product barcode.

  3. MSRP: Product MSRP.

  4. Default Price*: Product default price.

  5. Status: Is this variant preorder, active, disabled, or discontinued.

6. Sale Price: The price when the product is on sale.

7. Width: Product width.

8. Height: Product height.

9. Depth: Product depth.

10. Weight: Product weight.

11. Variant Option Values: The options tied to this variant. Each name and value pair needs to be specified here. (see next screenshot.)

  1. Name: Name of current variant options.

  2. Value: Values of current variant options.

  3. Delete: Delete this variant option from this product variant.

  4. Add: Open up the modal to add an option value.

  5. Name: Name of variant to be added.

  6. Value: Value of variant to be added.

Inventory Collection - Add/Edit

  1. Location*: As defined in the location data model. Enabled by defining different warehouses for the inventory.

  2. Cost: Average purchase price (cost to merchant).

  3. Qty on Hand: On hand available from connected systems.

  4. Qty Available: Quantity available from connected systems.

Kit Collection - Add/Edit

  1. Type*: Type of kit as defined above.

  2. SKU*: The SKU for that kit as a whole.

  3. Description: The description for the kit.

Related Product Collection - Add/Edit

  1. Add Related Product*: Search for the product and then select the product or variant from the list below.

  2. Related Type*: How the product is related to the related product chosen. Options include: Replacement, Similar Item, and Related Product.
