Before you start to use our MCP, please review the following items:
Ensure you have completed the iPaaS.com platform training before using this to best understand what is going on. If you need to gain access to it reach out to partnerships@ipaas.com.
With great power comes great responsibility - the MCP can do things like trigger a sync for your entire catalog and modify (or remove) data from your account. Ensure you understand what you want it to do before you work with it. iPaaS.com is not responsible for restoring any data or configuration changes made using the MCP.
Measure twice, cut once: When working with this, planning ahead of time (or asking the MCP to plan for you) will greatly benefit your work.
Remember that this is in beta so some features may be added, removed or altered as we continue our development. The latest change log notes can be found here.
If you have any issues or need to report a bug please reach out to us at mcp@ipaas.com.
These are the tools for how data is translated between iPaaS.com and your connected systems: mapping collections, field mappings, translations, formulas and scopes. Connect with https://mcp.ipaas.com/mcp/mappings to get just these (see Choosing Your Tools). For how to use them step by step, see Reviewing and Changing Mappings. You don't normally type tool names. Ask in plain language and the assistant picks the tool.
The tools
Look at collections and mappings
Tool | What it does | Changes data? |
list_mapping_collections | Lists the sync configurations, which are a system's data flows. | No |
find_mapping_collections | Finds collections by data type, system and direction, reading every page. | No |
get_mapping_collection | One collection, with its field mappings. | No |
get_mapping_collection_children and get_mapping_collection_parents | The child collections of a collection, and the possible parents for a collection type. | No |
get_mapping | One field mapping. | No |
list_invalid_mappings | Lists field mappings the platform flags as broken. | No |
list_translation_collections and get_translation_collection | Translation tables that convert values from one system's vocabulary to another's. | No |
list_scopes and get_scope | Data scopes, which are the event types a webhook can send. | No |
list_export_mapping_collections, get_export_mapping_collection, get_export_mapping_collection_children and get_export_mapping | The same views for export mappings. | No |
list_export_translation_collections, get_export_translation_collection and get_export_translation | The same views for export translations. | No |
Review and compare
Tool | What it does | Changes data? |
review_mapping_collection | A read-through before the first sync, including child collections. It flags mappings whose descriptions ask for client-specific data, static values to confirm, mappings with no description, filters and how duplicates are handled. | No |
diff_mapping_collections | Compares the field mappings of two collections. | No |
Formulas
Tool | What it does | Changes data? |
list_dynamic_formulas | The data-transform functions available, global and per integration, with pointers to their help pages. | No |
get_formula_context | Everything a formula may legally refer to for one mapping: source fields, custom fields, presets, functions and language limits. | No |
validate_formula | Checks a formula against that context. It grades its confidence instead of declaring a formula invalid, because the platform's own lists are incomplete. | No |
preview_formula | Runs a formula against one real record and shows what it produced, without sending anything. It asks which record to use. | No (uses a real record) |
get_external_model | The external system's own model for one data type, as it looks on a real record, including nested fields that the field list can't show. | No (uses a real record) |
Change mappings
Tool | What it does | Changes data? |
create_mapping | Adds a field mapping to a collection. | Yes (preview first) |
update_mapping | Changes a field mapping. | Yes (preview first) |
delete_mapping and reactivate_mapping | Remove or restore a field mapping. | Yes (preview first) |
propagate_mappings | Copies the mappings that are in collection A but missing from collection B. It refuses if the two run in different directions. | Yes (preview first) |
create_mapping_collection | Creates a new sync flow, a data type and direction, for a connected system. | Yes (preview first) |
update_mapping_collection | Changes a collection's own settings: name, description, sync type and record filter. It keeps the filter and other settings when you change something unrelated. | Yes (preview first) |
clone_mapping_collection | Copies a collection. A reverse clone flips the direction and doesn't copy filters or non-field mappings. | Yes (preview first) |
delete_mapping_collection and reactivate_mapping_collection | Remove or restore a collection. A collection with children needs its children handled first, and the tool shows you the plan. | Yes (preview first) |
Change translations
Tool | What it does | Changes data? |
add_translation | Adds a source-to-destination value pair. | Yes (preview first) |
update_translation, delete_translation and reactivate_translation | Change, remove or restore one translation row. | Yes (preview first) |
create_translation_collection | Creates a translation table for one mapped field. | Yes (preview first) |
update_translation_collection | Changes a translation collection's own settings, such as its name, not its rows. | Yes (preview first) |
clone_translation_collection | Copies a translation collection. A reverse clone flips the direction. | Yes (preview first) |
delete_translation_collection and reactivate_translation_collection | Remove or restore a whole translation collection. | Yes (preview first) |
Good to know
These change configuration, not your records. But they change how every later record syncs, and iPaaS.com has no undo. Keep the change log from each change.
Changes are previewed first. A tool that changes data shows exactly what it would send and changes nothing until you confirm. See Safety, Permissions and Limits.
Deleting is a soft delete, and each type has a matching reactivate.
Test after a change. Resync one record that uses the mapping before you trust it.
Permissions
Give your key View on Mapping Collection, Mapping, Translation Collection, Translation, Export Mapping Collection, Export Mapping, Export Translation Collection, Export Translation, Subscription and Lookup to read. Add Create, Edit or Delete only on the ones you will change. See Getting Started. Ask the assistant to check your permissions if a tool returns a 401.
