A Product Variant is a sellable variation of a product - the specific size, color, or configuration a customer actually buys. Other systems call it a Variant, Child SKU, Variation, or Option Combination.

In iPaaS.com, variants exist when a product is tracked at the variant level. In that mode the variant is the unit of commerce: orders, inventory, and barcodes resolve to the variant's own SKU, not the product's. Each variant has its own SKU and can override the parent's pricing and dimensions, and it carries its own inventory, option-value assignments, and alternate IDs.

Connected platforms model variants very differently - some flatten them into standalone SKUs, some nest them the way iPaaS.com does. iPaaS.com holds the canonical nested structure (product parent, variants beneath it) so every system can be translated to and from a consistent shape. A variant inherits its name and description from the parent product; those aren't repeated on the variant itself.
