Customer Categories

What a Customer Category is in iPaaS.com: a reference grouping (segment, price group, tier) linked to customers by assignment, synced as reference data.

How iPaaS.com Thinks About Customer Categories

A Customer Category is a reference grouping - a name and description. Other systems call it a Customer Group, Segment, Price Group, or Tier.

Categories let iPaaS.com segment customers consistently across systems - wholesale versus retail, loyalty tiers, price groups. The category itself is reference data, synced independently; the thing it applies to is linked through a separate assignment. Syncing the categories before the records that use them means the assignments resolve to categories that already exist.

The same category applies to both customers and companies. There isn't a separate "company category" type. A Customer Category can be assigned to an individual Customer or to a Customer Company - the two use separate assignment records but draw from the same shared set of categories.
